Stretching is a type of exercise in which you hold a muscle in its lengthened position for a given time period.
Your muscles are designed to move. If they do not move enough, they stiffen, which makes the moving more difficult. Conversely, when you frequently move a muscle, you keep it loose, which makes work easier. While sitting in your office, you may not be moving your muscles often enough. This can cause them to become stiff during the day. To prevent this, you should periodically stretch your muscle groups to keep them loose and limber.
See the Office Athlete® Nine Stretches for more information.
